It’s a shame states couldn’t develop a system to offer official status to gig/freelancen/contract workers *before* a massive, economy-shattering recession kicked in.

gig and switch

The biggest advantage “gig” companies have is that they’re the only companies around who can arbitrarily decrease payment rates 1) without telling workers they’re doing so and 2) with relative impunity because where else are people going to go?
