More legit competition means everyone will have smaller audiences. It’s up to the parent companies to decide if that’s acceptable or if they just can’t work like this, opting to either buy up other players or fold their cards and go home.
will movies be different
It’s possible streaming will change the fundamental nature of movies. We’ve already seen instances like this in how Spotify and other services have changed music in various ways. But a movie will still be a movie, so let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

I don’t know that this is as innovative as it seems, just that the same lessons and tactics from theatrical promotions are being applied to streaming originals.
