“Microproductivity” seems more than a little dystopian, making it clear that companies see employees as pistons that must always be kept firing instead of as people who sometimes need to take a damn break.

Companies hiring instead of investing in productivity-aiding technology because people are easier to fire than machines are to discard is some amoral rationale.

productivity drops

It’s not much and for the year we’re still in the black, but productivity took a hit last quarter. Also, can we stop with the idea that productivity gains allow for companies to raise wages? Because that’s demonstrably what’s not happening right now.

Hope companies are happy allowing generations of future workers being raised under less than optimal conditions just because they can’t be bothered to make it more comfortable and easier for new mothers to pump.
